A Truth Journal: Colbert Hilarious Interview: Dragon Smaug, Now Send Him To Eat Congress: From Denny: This interview with threatening dragon Smaug from the Lord of the Rings movie prequel definitely ranks up there as Stephen's Best of All Time. After Thursday's outrageous and obnoxious new federal budget bill passing the House, it's time to send a fire breathing dragon to Congress and this White House to eat naughty people selling out the American people. If it survives in it's current form then expect the U. S. economy to go into a furious death spiral as Wall Street goes on a gambling spree with our money.
Stiff upper Lip For President Obama after 2014 Election Losses - REUTERS/LARRY DOWNING
A Truth Journal: GOP Stealing Elections Again As Trial Balloon For Taking Back The White House In 2016?: From Denny: Wake up, you clueless Democrats; you just got snookered again by the Republicans stealing elections out from under your noses. For the past two weeks the word here in the South has been from my Republican friends of how they "know for sure" they are going to win big and take back the Senate. When I asked why they were so confident, they winked, grinned wide and said slyly, "Well, you know the fix is in nationally."
Of course, it didn't surprise me at all. I've been suspecting it for some time. Republican greed is so ridiculously out of control. All you had to do was observe some of their behaviors to know what they were up to. I was just waiting patiently to see if they were actually stupid enough to carry it out. The answer for Election Night 2014 was a resounding "Yes! We Can!"
Did you check out Sen. Roberts (R-Kansas) desperately dialing for dollars from K Street lobbyists to the tune of $100,000 per call to save his campaign? Well, today it's K Street lobbyists who are calling Sen. Roberts and demanding all the legislation they want passed to make good for all that money they invested. Sen. Roberts is not the only Republican who will have to pay up to their lobbyist sponsors.
For months all the polling has shown many a race to be neck and neck and "too close to call" like the Kansas Senate race. Then, all of a sudden, there is "a stunning upset" in many a race on election night where the races were "decided" by 10 to 15 points? Doesn't anyone in the Democrat Party have the BS detector going off in their heads yet? You should.
You have a slew of hated Republicans all across the country that their own states can't tolerate and yet they get re-elected by wide margins? Come on, seriously? ...

From Denny: Voters for the Democrats, and Republicans alike, are looking all around for a political leader who will, well, lead. Fourteen years of unadulterated insensitivity and outright political inaction geared toward the majority of the country have all combined to create a ground swell of bitter resentment and grousing that hasn't been seen in decades in this country against both political parties, especially the Republicans.

A Truth Journal: Daily Show Shutstorm 2013: Govt Shutdown Jokes Just Keep On Coming!: 5 funny Daily Show, Colbert Report videos. From Denny: While the American Congress acts like fighting children, risking the world economy in this stupid government shutdown, hey, look! it's Russian President Putin looking like a global statesman. He's busy destroying chemical weapons while holding Syria's nasty feet to the fire until that mission is accomplished.
Can the world get any weirder when Russia sets aside thuggish behavior and takes the world lead acting with the debonair class America used to display in eras past? Kiss classy goodbye in America. It hasn't happened in a very long time. Maybe the country will get lucky and Texas will organize a recall election for Sen. Ted Cruz and other Tea Party guys like him...
Express your view of the government shutdown with the rest of frustrated America. Other sizes and styles available for men and women as well as other products like mugs and pillows.
Then Biden picked up the dazed talking parrot and slammed him against the barn door for lying every time he opened his mouth with phony statistics and fantasy GOP sponsored "studies." Debate done; Biden won hands down. We were all cheering at our house as this was the best TV we had seen in years.
Just check out all the funny news clips Jon Stewart collected from the sore loser side, the Republicans. These three video clips are hilarious; the truth revealed in fast time. The best is how Stewart took my fellow journalists to task for some really childish reporting, something I've fussed about for years.

Most of the blog posts are at my flagship blog that spun off into the other 20, The Social Poets, where the news crashes into humor. I even manage to write a few in-depth news posts, slicing and dicing the BS that passes for truth these days on the airwaves.
And to think I do all this in my spare time... Hope you enjoy!
*** Enjoy an unusual muffin: a small baked omelet!
From Denny: The versatility of the simple egg is to be celebrated! How this photographer chose to display this egg is amusing. What's better is this recipe is basically a small baked omelet and so easy to do. It's also a good recipe for diabetics or those who avoid gluten in their diet.
Exploring all these bed and breakfast muffin recipes has been a lot of fun. Discovering new inns in different parts of the country made me think how promoting small business is a way to help the economy! Muffin Monday was born to help celebrate muffin recipes and travel across America and Canada.
This Arizona inn is a golfing resort where you can enjoy the rustic Southwest charm of architecture and setting. This is the first bed and breakfast inn I've found with a video on YouTube to give you a tour!
From the website: Relax on our red rock view patio, or step out the back gate and hit some balls at our secluded range of Sedona Golf Resort. Enjoy a glass of wine in front of your in-room fireplace, soak in your private whirlpool tub, or walk up to Cucina Rustica, possibly the finest restaurant in Sedona and Arizona. Step into the Great Room with Mexican saltillo tile floors and a wall of windows overlooking the Red Rocks and the manicured golf course, where you will enjoy breakfast outside on the flagstone courtyard next to the fountain in the warmer months, or inside the dining room during the winter. Mornings feature our two-course breakfast, which changes daily.
Come and experience the warmth of Southwestern hospitality in true Sedona style. At Adobe Hacienda Bed and Breakfast, you'll feel the rustic charm of old adobe architecture, peeled lodgepoles, 100-year-old Oaxacan doors, authentic saltillo tile and hand painted Mexican sinks.

From Denny: This has been an eventful month for screw-ups in the news and it was not lost on the pens of the nation's cartoonists. They had great fun lampooning all the crazy politics, the economy, Arizona style immigration and Big Business on Wall Street. Take a look at the state of the economy in America and then hike on over to The Mother Post over at The Social Poets that contains all the other links to more funny posts and opinion for lots of laughs.

From Denny: The big Super Bowl weekend match up of the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts is in full swing party wise in both cities! The cartoonists predicted the Saints would lose against the Vikings in the NFL Championship and were wrong. Everyone in Louisiana is totally convinced the cartoonists are wrong again about the Saints' hope of winning the Super Bowl. People are practically "wired for sound" around here they are so excited about this team. The Saints had a 44 year drought of misery and to see them win this much is like catnip candy.
The rest of this week's visual opinions were devoted mainly to the President's budget spending and cutbacks, especially NASA. Where the cartoonists really went off on was their anger against Toyota's arrogance in this million plus car recall. Toyota has been declaring customer satisfaction for decades - only now America is finding out they have been hiding the truth about their cars.
Now we find out recently that Toyota hasn't been properly reporting to the U.S. Dept. of Transportation as required by law. Then they continue to insist these same dangerous cars are safe. Toyota car owners need to demand a buy back from the manufacturer as these cars are dangerous to everyone on the road driving near them. Short of that the President better do something serious and fast before this spirals out of control. Can you hear the Toyota used car value falling like a rock? Drive those cars until the wheels fall off or get the parent company to take it back. It's called The Lemon Laws in America.
Just when Toyota thought they would get to surge ahead in the American market to capture a larger share and capitalize on General Motors' and Ford's share of bad karma repercussion slap-back - they now experience their very butt kick.
Check out this week's cartoons lampooning everyone in the news!
Super Bowl - the Saints against the Colts in Miami:
Finally repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell mandate which never made much sense anyway since just about everyone but the clueless knew who was or wasn't gay:
Prez Obama cutting back and downsizing NASA since these guys tend to be wasteful and have been for 40 years, treating the national wallet like it's a money tree. Choose your projects wisely and plan a lot more carefully, then stick to it and quit with the budget overruns. Obama's next stop needs to be the guys who build military aircraft:
